The challenge

The challenge

Young platforms are built fast, and the security, monitoring and cost controls a production service needs can trail behind the features. Azure gives teams the tools, but someone has to put them in place and keep them current while the product team keeps building. This fintech, running its platform and AI features on Azure, chose a service built around steady improvement rather than waiting for incidents to drive the work.

What we did

What we did

  • Strengthened security across the estate: tighter identity and access, encrypted-only traffic, and protection for keys and core infrastructure against accidental deletion.
  • Switched on ISO/IEC 27001 compliance tracking in Azure Policy.
  • Put uptime and health monitoring in place, with alerts going straight to a shared Teams channel.
  • Moved the AI features to the latest models in Azure AI Foundry and planned ahead for Microsoft's API retirements.
  • Right-sized the database and hosting footprint and began moving databases into shared pools.

The outcome

The outcome

  • A steady stream of improvements, with most engineering time spent on proactive work.
  • Stronger security controls and a live view of compliance against ISO/IEC 27001.
  • AI features on current models, with a clear path through Microsoft's API retirements.
  • A leaner Azure footprint, with alerting to protect performance as the platform grows.
