The challenge

The challenge

Observability trials are short, and most stall on setup: permissions, integrations and data that never quite arrives, leaving teams to judge a platform on a demo rather than their own systems. The company, which runs on AWS, chose to evaluate Datadog properly before buying, with its engineering, support and security teams all involved and data handling checked as part of the trial.

What we did

What we did

  • Got the AWS integration working, so real infrastructure data flowed from the start.
  • Built dashboards with the team, matched to the views and workflows they already used.
  • Set up and tuned automatic detection of sensitive data in logs, and confirmed data handling controls.
  • Advised on proactive alerting, tracing, logging and a tagging model built to scale.
  • Ran enablement sessions for each team, and stayed on hand to unblock issues throughout.

The outcome

The outcome

  • The organisation went on to choose Datadog as its observability platform.
  • The trial ran on its own systems and workflows, not a demo.
  • Data handling and security controls were checked within the trial, not left until after purchase.
  • A clear, prioritised path from trial to production.
